Who Is That Goofy Kid?!?

Michael is taking full advantage of the camara.....

A Little Tummy Time

Usually he doesn't like this, but he seemed to be in a pretty good mood. (?)

Bath Time

Matthew is never too thrilled about bath time. I hope someday he'll like it!

Giddyup Cowboy

Michael wore Grandpa Edstrom's cowboy boots and hat for most of the day before we left to go back to Tucson. He thought they were pretty cool, and now he wants to be a cowboy.....

Zzzzzzzzzzz

This is just before bed time. As you can tell he had a very rough day with getting so much attention all day and being passed around.

Matthew's Baby Blessing

He is a very sleepy boy.....

We blessed Matthew at my parent's home in Perry, UT. All of my family were there, and Shane's Mom was also able to come. It was so nice to have everyone together for such a special occation! Shane did a wonderful job blessing our sweet little boy.

Matthew Edstrom Chism

After much anticipation I finally delivered a healthy and beautiful baby boy. My water broke while in bed late Sunday night on July 19, 2009. Shane didn't believe me when I first told him, because I gave him a false alarm a few days prior. He had to come on my side of the bed to make sure it was real. I didn’t realize it at the time but I was having contractions throughout the day on Sunday. After my water broke the contractions started getting more intense, and so we loaded everything up in the car and drove to the hospital. Shane tried to wake Michael up, and he wasn't too happy about being woken up from his sleep. I have to add something cute Michael said once he was awake and in the car. He kept trying to console me because he could tell I was in so much pain. Michael kept telling me just to breath like Ellie. We had just gone to see "Ice Age 2" on Saturday, and so he was telling me to take a big breath like Ellie in the movie when she was giving birth. Shane called Michael’s Grandpa and Grandma Davidson before we left for the hospital to see if he could stay the night there. It was also Michael's first day of school on Monday. He started 1st grade, so they took him to school for us.

We drove to the hospital, and the nurse checked to see how far along I was, and I was already at 9 1/2 centimeters. So he was not waiting, and wanted to come out very soon! It is very unusual for someone who is having their first child to deliver so quickly. I was very fortunate to have a quick labor. I was known as “superwoman” at the hospital. They hurried me over to the labor and delivery room where they hooked me up to all sorts of things, gave me shots, and asked a lot of questions. And I had to wait until the on-call Doctor arrived at the hospital. Meanwhile I'm trying so hard not to just push him out, and begging for an epidural. They did not want to give me one since he was already crowing at that point. Shane was a big help by letting me grip onto his arm while pushing Matthew out. I'm glad he didn't give me his hand, because I think I would have crushed it.

After three long and agonizing pushes Matthew was finally here. He arrived at 12:23 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009. He weighed 6 pounds 14.7 ounces and 18 inches long. I love watching him grow, and spending every waking moment with him. And he has a proud Daddy, and big brother.
